Fourth- grade students explored in depth the importance of photosynthesis for life on our planet. Although this topic was studied last year, we decided to expand their knowledge by creating a mural with different images, diagrams, and key words that illustrate how plants use sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide to produce their own food and release oxygen, which is essential for human life and other living beings.
In addition, students researched the discovery of photosynthesis. They learned about Jan Ingenhousz, the scientist who first explained this process in 1779, as well as the contributions of other scientists who further developed this knowledge over time.
Through this activity, students strengthened their understanding of photosynthesis and its importance for life on Earth, while also developing creativity, research skills, and teamwork.
